Amy Long grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida and currently resides in Austin, TX. She earned her M.F.A. from Virginia Tech’s Creative Writing Program in 2016. She also holds an M.A. in Women’s Studies (2008) and a B.A. in English and Women’s Studies from the University of Florida (2006).Amy previously worked in communications for drug policy reform and free-speech advocacy groups in Santa Cruz, CA; Washington, D.C.; and New York City. She currently works as a bookseller at Austin’s largest independent bookstore. She serves as media liaison and a contributing editor to the drug history blog Points, where she runs the “Fiction Points” interview series (and occasionally blogs). Her essays have appeared or are forthcoming in Best American Experimental Writing 2015, decomP, The Literary Hub (via Heavy Feather Review), and elsewhere.
